There are numerous approaches to the evaluation and treatment of head and neck pain. Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is an injection procedure designed to stimulate repair of the supersensitive nerve root at the spinal level. IMS involves the insertion of acupuncture type needles into the body where muscles have shortened or contracted, or at points where muscle meets nerve. Problems at these points that are often the root of long term pain. Intramuscular stimuation may be effective for patients complaining of chronic neck pain and headache.
